The Bandundu province was divided into the cities of Bandundu and Kikwit and the districts of Kwango, Kwilu, Mai-Ndombe and Plateaux (later added to Mai-Ndombe) (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bandundu_Province). The Orientale province was divided into the Bas-Uele, Haut-Uele and Tshopo districts and the Ituri Interim Administration. These became provinces in 2015 under the 2006 constitution (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orientale_Province).
