Study Population: Patients hospitalized with cholera at the International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh (icddr,b) hospital in Dhaka, Bangladesh, and their household contacts were enrolled in the study. Of 236 contacts enrolled, 184 were included in the analysis. Of those included, 37.5% demonstrated evidence of infection. Of 3, 122 index patients with cholera enrolled between 12/200-1/2011. Contacts were individuals who shared a cooking pot with index case for 3 or more days preceeding cholera outbreak.
