In 2011, 61.2% of cases were 15-45 with 61% male and 39% female In 2011 all cholera cases reported on line list (not for 2007-2010) and in 2011 only occurred in Rukungiri and Kasese districts. Deaths: 2007: 35, 2008: 54, 2009: 23, 2010: 64, 2011: 5 Cases: 2007: 1662, 2008: 2630, 2009: 1076, 2010: 2017, 2011: 230 Strain was laboratory confirmed for 130 specimens. Of those laboratory confirmed, 72% were Ogawa and 28% were Inaba
Community level: "any person with plenty of watery diarrhea." Health Facility level: profuse, acute watery diarrhea among patinets age >= 5 years, or death in a person with acute watery diarrhea, in areas not previously known to have an epidemic.
Suspected case with Vibrio cholerae O1 or O139 confirmed by culture or PCR.
